Finger Blister(s) Update: After revisiting a Ray Brown interview I posted, in which he sheds light on tone, I decided that the action, as comfortable as it was to play because it was so low, the action needed to be raised. I began modestly turning my adjusters in quarter turns until I had reached two complete turns. I don’t quite know how much that equates to in any standard unit of measurement but what I do know is that my tone has become louder, thumpier, thicker, and punchier than before. I’m quite pleased.

As far as my finger is concerned, I played for about 7 hours with a few friends yesterday after taking a few days off to let it heal so it’s a little swollen in the picture. It may be difficult to see but I have three distinct calluses — tip, first joint, and side of the second joint — and a fourth one slowly developing on the side of my knuckle, which does not show up in the picture.
